There are sandbags available to Stuarts Point residents who need to prepare their home for potential flooding, given the current groundwater levels and weather forecast.

Residents can collect sandbags from the Stuarts Point Hall and Stuarts Point Workers Club.

The State Emergency Service (SES) has also dropped some sandbags to Third Avenue.

If prefilled bags run out, residents can fill bags at the hall or phone the SES on 132 500.

Kempsey Shire Council is taking necessary steps to install a pump at Third Ave and to seek approval to carry out pumping.

There is a risk of groundwater reaching surface level in Stuarts Point in a similar way to the Flood Event of March 2021, as previously reported.

Residents are asked to closely monitor water levels near their properties and to act accordingly.
