The Macleay Seniors Festival begins Wednesday 1 February with a free morning tea at Kempsey Library and then rolls on with two weeks of fabulous and free events.

From an incredible exhibition celebrating convict ancestors to a poetry reading, all the events are free with several supported by Kempsey Shire Council’s Community Grants program. In addition to the events, Gladstone Memorial Swimming Pool is offering those with a Seniors Card free entry from 1 – 12 February. Majestic Cinemas is also offering a discounted movie ticket to Seniors Cardholders during this time.

Acting Group Manager Community Partnerships Giles Hardie wants us all to celebrate the contribution our seniors make to our local community.

“The Macleay Seniors Festival is an opportunity to take the time to thank our wonderful seniors, so many of whom give their time generously by volunteering in our community,” Mr Hardie said.

“During the Festival there’s a range of free events happening and we hope to see as many of our seniors as possible attend, but the whole community is invited to participate in the festival with some events open to all. We also want to thank the many local businesses and committees who have made these events possible.”

The morning tea at Kempsey Library that will kick off Macleay Seniors Festival includes free coffee for Seniors Cardholders and entertainment by local musician Kathryn Jones.
