The Garage Sale Trail is coming to Kempsey!

It’s time to declutter for cash! With Australia’s biggest secondhand event, Garage Sale Trail, just around the corner, it’s time for the Kempsey Shire community to put some spring clean in their step and declutter for cash.
Decluttering is one of the big themes of Garage Sale Trail, happening in the Kempsey Shire on 9-10 and 16-17 November.
The Garage Sale Trail is a way to liberate your cupboards, garages and sheds that are chock full of all that stuff we have but don’t really need. With Spring in the air it’s the natural time to declutter, re-organise our nests and get our homes in order.
Professional organiser Edel Beattie from The Happy Organiser who assists households create more functional, organised living spaces, explained that many clients often ask for advice about what to do with unwanted items because they want to avoid throwing things away.
“I’m an advocate of Garage Sale Trail because it provides everyone an annual opportunity to get organised and declutter but also to sell excess belongings instead of throwing things out,” Edel said.
"Impulse purchasing is one reason we accumulate too much stuff and lots of us are unaware we are doing it. Decluttering helps us build awareness of these habits and make better decisions by truly bringing the things we love and need into our homes.”
Now in its 14th year, Garage Sale Trail is Australia’s biggest secondhand treasure hunt and is expected to involve upwards of 500,000 participants on 9-10 & 16 -17 November 2024.
It’s free to participate in Garage Sale Trail thanks to the support of Kempsey Council and the NSW Environment Protection Authority.
