Kempsey Shire Council’s waste team ensures the shire’s waste is collected, transported and managed safely, efficiently and cost-effectively. We are committed to helping our community to waste less and recycle more.
We are working to improve the way we sort and collect our waste to improve efficiencies and reduce community costs in the long term. Specifically, we aim to:
- reduce the increasing cost to the local community due to the state government waste levy
- meet resource recovery targets set by the Environment Protection Authority
- extend the life of our local landfill on Crescent Head Road.
Council operates four waste and recycling centres and provides advice through its Waste Hotline on 1300 342 207.
