Our water team is flushing our bores at Kinchela – water will be discharged along Hat Head Road until early next week.
Steuart McIntyre Dam is approaching 100% capacity. A controlled discharge from the dam has been activated, which will result in higher flows in Fattorini creek.
In just one year, Council sees more than 300 animals come into their care. With the help of Friends of Kempsey Pound volunteers, it is possible for Kempsey Pound to be a 'no-kill' pound. The volunteer organisation assists Council by generously taking many impounded animals into temporary foster care until a suitable adoption can be arranged.
Friends of Kempsey Pound also host regular prevention and treatment days to vaccinate local dogs against deadly diseases such as canine parvovirus and mange. These prevention and treatment days see people from the Kempsey Shire come far and wide to get free vaccinations to protect their furry friends.
This great local charity is always looking for volunteers to help out, whether it be at events like this, fostering animals or visiting and exercising dogs in Council's care. If you are interested in the next prevention and treatment day, learning more, even becoming a part of this amazing organisation, please visit Friends of Kempsey Pounds group on Facebook.
