Water restrictions
Level 1 - Domestic use

Kempsey Shire Council wishes to advise residents that currently there are no water restrictions.

Council will continue to monitor water levels and will keep the community up-to-date with any changes.

Level 1 Water Supply Restrictions
Description Restriction
Gardens and lawns Every second day using the “odds & evens" calendar days matching your house number. No watering on 31st of the month.
  • Micro-spray watering systems can be used for 15 minutes only between the hours of 4.00pm and 9.00am
  • Hand held hoses for a maximum of 1hour/day between the hours of 4.00pm and 9.00am
  • No sprinklers or soaker hoses at any time.
Or
Washing car, boat and trailer
  • Buckets only for washing.
  • Hand held hose fitted with cut off trigger or control nozzle for rinsing only after washing, permitted between the hours of 4:00pm and 9:00am on allocated “odds & evens” calendar day
Boat motors used in a saltwater environment (includes boat and trailer)
  • Use of hand held hose or “muffs” for 5 minutes on a lawn area only.
  • Hand held hose fitted with cut off trigger or control nozzle for rinsing of boat and trailer on day of use only
Cleaning windows, houses, roofs & gutters
  • Buckets or pressure cleaners only any time of day
  • No hand held hoses
Washing driveways & paved areas Water not to be used unless cleaning is required as a result of an accident, fire, health hazard or other emergency using only hoses fitted with cut off trigger or control nozzle or pressure cleaners.
Swimming pools, spa pools, ponds and fountains
  • New pools may be filled only with the written consent of Kempsey Shire Council.
  • Topping up allowed by hand held hose only for a maximum of 1hour only between 4:00pm and 9:00am on allocated “odds & evens” calendar days.

No restrictions to commercial activities (including commercial market gardens and plant nurseries), however, water saving initiatives are encouraged.

These restrictions are compulsory and fines can be issued to those people who do not comply.
