MIDWASTE - Regional Waste Forum

Go to MIDWASTE website

MIDWASTE is the forum made up of representatives from the following eight member Councils located on the Mid North Coast of NSW, whose focus is regional co-operation in waste management and waste minimisation.

  • Coffs City Council
  • Bellingen Shire Council
  • Nambucca Shire Council
  • Kempsey Shire Council
  • Port Macquarie Hastings Council
  • Greater Taree City Council
  • Gloucester Shire Council
  • Great Lakes Council

One of MIDWASTE's major aims is to provide measurable diversion of waste from landfill, with areas that hold the greatest potential for diversion having high priority.

Funding for the regional programs comes from the NSW EPA (Environment Protection Authority). Every 3 years, MIDWASTE develops a "Regional Resource Recovery Strategy" as a link between the member Councils individual waste strategies and the waste strategy of the NSW Government. This strategy outlines the direction of the group as well as outlining anticipated projects for the 3-year period.
