Plant giveaway to help green the Kempsey Shire

Media release - 18 July 2018

Residents will be able to green their gardens with some free native plants as part of Planet Ark’s National Tree Day.

Kempsey Shire Council will be giving away up to two free native plants per person in Council’s courtyard on Friday 27 July starting at 10:30am until 1:30pm.

“As Australia’s largest community-tree planting and nature care event, Council is proud to be supporting National Tree Day again this year,” said Council’s Acting Coordinator Civic Services, Katy Rogan.

“The giveaway will be a great opportunity for residents to come along and grab a plant, get outside and green their own gardens while doing something good for the environment.”

Due to there being a limited number of plants available, it will be a case of first in, best dressed on the day. Residents will need to show proof of residence in the Kempsey Shire.

There will also be an opportunity for residents to go into the draw to win a fruit tree on the day.

The theme for National Tree Day 2018 - Connect In Nature - looks at the ways in which technology can enhance time outdoors and enrich our appreciation for the natural world using apps and other digital resources.
