Macleay Valley flood update # 5

Media release - 6:55am 23 March 2018

Water levels in the Macleay River continue to fall. There has been a slight rise at Toorooka as a second minor peak moves downriver. This is not expected to have any significant impact further downstream.

Roads affected by flooding

  • Bellbrook, Toorooka, Temagog, Turners Flat and Sherwood Bridges all remain closed
  • Dungay Creek causeway is closed
  • Gladstone Street, West Kempsey railway underpass is closed
  • Queen Street, South Kempsey is closed
  • Saleyards Road, North Kempsey is closed
  • Euroka Road/Theresa Street at Euroka are closed
  • Maria River Road is closed
  • Old Aerodrome Road is closed
  • Collombatti Road - water over road - caution
  • Crescent Head Road at Rudders Lagoon has re-opened but shallow water still over road.
  • Loftus Road remains open

There may be water over or adjacent to other roads - proceed with caution

  • Flood gates on Kinchela Creek, Belmore River, Euroka Creek and Christmas Creek are being closed
  • Flood relief gates at Kinchela Creek and Belmore River are being closed. Relief gates will not need to be opened.
