Macleay Valley flood update # 3

Media release - 2:05pm 23 March 2018

Rain in the Macleay River catchment has eased and river levels have started falling. Further rises may eventuate if rain upriver returns.

Roads affected by flooding

  • Bellbrook, Toorooka, Temagog, Turners Flat and Sherwood Bridges are all closed
  • Dungay Creek causeway is closed
  • Gladstone Street, West Kempsey railway underpass is closed
  • Queen Street, South Kempsey is closed
  • Wide Street, West Kempsey is closed
  • Saleyards Road, North Kempsey is closed
  • Euroka Road/Theresa Street at Euroka are closed
  • Maria River Road is closed
  • Old Aerodrome Road is closed
  • Collombatti Road - water over road
  • Crescent Head Road at Rudders Lagoon will re-open at 2:15pm but vehicles will be escorted through
  • Loftus Road remains open

There may be water over or adjacent to other roads - proceed with caution

  • Flood gates on Kinchela Creek, Belmore River, Euroka Creek and Christmas Creek are being closed
  • Flood relief gates at Kinchela Creek and Belmore River are being closed. At this stage we do not expect that the relief gates will need to be opened.
