Draft Voluntary Planning Agreement (VPA) on public exhibition

Media alert - 28 February 2018

Kempsey Shire Council has placed the draft Voluntary Planning Agreement (VPA) relating to the Kempsey Cinema Project on public exhibition, following acknowledgment received from the Office of Local Government (OLG).

In their correspondence to council the OLG outlined that a VPA is excluded from the definition of a Public Private Partnership. A VPA is regulated under the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979 and is administered by the Department of Planning and Environment.

The VPA will be on public exhibition for a period of 28 days and can be viewed online by going to www.kempsey.nsw.gov.au/vpa or at Council’s Customer Service Centre, 22 Tozer St, West Kempsey, from 8:30am to 4:30pm, Monday to Friday.

Members of the public are invited to make submissions on the terms of the VPA.

Submissions will be accepted up until 4pm on Wednesday 28 March with the matter to be reported back to Council in April.
