New managers take over Horseshoe Bay kiosk lease

Media release - 27 June 2017

Healthy alternatives and winter warmers are some of the new additions to be added to the menu at the Horseshoe Bay kiosk after the recent take-over by new managers Gayle and Bruce Edwards.

As Reserve Trust Manager, Kempsey Shire Council looks after the building on behalf of the Department of Crown Lands.

The iconic local eatery is located in a prime position overlooking both South West Rocks main beach and popular Horseshoe Bay.

The Edwards hail from the Macleay Valley and have returned to the area after living away for work.

“We wanted to take on a new challenge of operating and running our own business as well as being able to live and work in South West Rocks,” Gayle said.

“Bruce and I entered into this business venture wanting to make the kiosk a favourite amongst both the locals and the visitors for providing great service and good quality food whilst they enjoy taking in the picturesque views of Horseshoe and Trial Bays.

“South West Rocks is a beautiful part of Australia. It’s a friendly town and is picturesque no matter where you look.”

The Edwards have kept the same menu but plan on adding some healthy alternatives and comfort foods during the colder months.

“This menu has been tried and it is favourable amongst the locals, but in saying this, we will be introducing new items to the menu to cater for those wishing to enjoy a healthier alternative,” Gayle said.

“During winter we plan on adding homemade soups and hearty style meals to the menu as specials, as well as offering delicious treats to enjoy whilst sipping on a hot beverage.”

Gayle and Bruce thanked former managers Sharon and Glen Cook for 11 years of service and also acknowledged the 10 employees of the kiosk for their support, guidance and patience during the transition phase.
