Road Rules Awareness Week
Media release - 27 February 2017
Roundabouts are there to manage traffic flows and prevent crashes yet most people still don’t know the rules of entering and exiting them. So much in fact, that roundabouts top the list of the 10 most misunderstood road rules in NSW.
In an attempt to make our roads safer and to clarify these common road rules, Transport for NSW introduced Road Rules Awareness Week which started today and runs until 5 March.
Kempsey Shire Council’s, Project Officer - Community Safety, Marilyn Breen, is promoting the campaign and encourages local motorists to refresh their knowledge.
“During this time each year, Transport for NSW focuses on the top 10 Road Rules and provides simple answers to many road rules questions, including how to indicate at a roundabout, when to use high-beam and fog lights, and when it is permitted to make a U-turn at traffic lights,” she said.
“A series of animated videos of the existing rules have been developed and provide additional ideas and strategies to tackle any concerns that motorists may have when dealing with difficult driving conditions.”
