The second half of Council’s 2016-1017 works program will focus on improving the condition of residential roads throughout Kempsey.

Resealing Middleton Street, South Kempsey and Gamacks Lane are both nearing completion with the next phase of work planned for streets in West Kempsey.

The installation of new kerb and guttering, pavement strengthening and resealing of Cochrane Street, Short Street and River Street will commence over the next week, weather permitting. Work is also planned to follow in Elbow Street and North Street.

The upgrades are part of Council’s road rehabilitation program, valued at more than $2 million.

“Improving the condition of roads as well as the safety and accessibility for residents in our shire is a high priority for council,” Council’s Director of Infrastructure Services Robert Scott said.

“Work will continue over the next 10 weeks with minimal disruption where possible. Council would like to thank residents for their patience while these important rehabilitation works take place.”
