Austral Eden Outer Road - Anderson's Bridge replacement
24 November 2017

Replacement of Anderson's Bridge on Austral Eden Outer Road is planned to commence on 4 December. Anderson's Bridge is located approximately 1.5km from South West Rocks Road. The work entails the replacement of the timber bridge with a concrete box culvert.

No bypass is available and the road is expected to be closed until 15 December (weather permitting). An alternative route is available via Austral Eden Inner Road.

Macleay Valley Way (Lachlan Street), South Kempsey - roadworks in progress
Update No. 1 - 24 November 2017

Roadworks in Lachlan Street, South Kempsey, are progressing. The project involves upgrading and/or replacement of the road pavement, drainage. kerb and gutter and footpaths between Middleton Street and Bloomfield Street and includes a roundabout at Middleton Street. Initial work has commenced on the western side of Lachlan Street between Carri Street and Nicholson Street. The work requires the use of earthmoving equipment and trucks.

During the work vehicle access to businesses may be restricted intermittently and short delays to traffic will occur. Traffic control will be in place as required. Motorists are requested to follow instructions from traffic controllers at all times. The initial works are expected to be completed by 15 December. No work will be undertaken over the Christmas holiday period and works will resume on 29 January.

Gowings Hill Road, South Kempsey - roadworks in progress
Update No. 2 - 24 November 2017

Road construction works for the connection of South Street from West Street to Gowings Hill Road are progressing. Traffic diversions and temporary traffic signals have been installed at the intersection of Gowings Hill Road and Lika Drive to allow works on the new alignment to progress. It is expected that traffic will be diverted onto the new alignment in this area in approx. three weeks.

The works are being undertaken by Eire Constructions on behalf of Council and require the use of earthmoving equipment and trucks.

During the works a temporary speed zone will be enforced, traffic control will be in place as required and short delays can be expected. The works will take up to five months to complete.

Elbow Street, West Kempsey - roadworks in progress
Update No. 4 - 24 November 2017

Roadworks in Elbow Street, West Kempsey are progressing. Work to install concrete centre islands is nearing completion. Work on pedestrian ramps to align with median refuges are expected to commence on 29 November and be completed by 15 December. Planting of trees in the centre islands is also expected to be completed in this period.

During the work traffic control will be in place as required. Motorists are requested to follow instructions from traffic controllers at all times.

South Street, South Kempsey - roadworks commenced
Update No. 2 - 24 November 2017

Roadworks in South Street, South Kempsey between Macleay Valley Way and West Street are progressing. Excavation and replacement of failed pavement areas and stabilisation of the existing pavement has been completed. Bitumen sealing is programmed to be undertaken from 27 November and asphalt surfacing works are planned for Sunday 3 December and Sunday 10 December (weather permitting). The work requires the use of sealing and asphalt paving plant and trucks. During the work vehicle access to businesses may be restricted intermittently and short delays to traffic will occur. Traffic control will be in place as required. Motorists are requested to follow instructions from traffic controllers at all times.

Stuarts Point Road - roadworks in progress
Update No. 3 - 24 November 2017

Roadworks in Stuarts Point Road between Lukes Lane and Browns Road are nearing completion. Bitumen sealing between Mighell Road and Browns Road is programmed for Sunday 26 November (weather permitting). Final seal of the section between Lukes Lane and Mighell Road is planned for the week ending 8 December (weather permitting).

During the bitumen sealing work there will be short delays, temporary speed limits will apply and traffic control will be in place as required. Drivers are requested to obey the speed limits and follow instructions from traffic controllers at all times.

River Street, West Kempsey - roadworks nearing completion
Update No. 8 - 24 November 2017

Roadworks in River Street, West Kempsey between North Street and Elbow Street and in North Street are nearing completion. Initial seals were placed prior to winter and recent weather conditions and unavailability of the sealing contractor have delayed placing of the final bitumen seal.

It is expected that this will now take place between 4 and 8 December (weather permitting).

During the sealing work there will be short delays, temporary speed limits will apply and traffic control will be in place as required. Drivers are requested to obey the speed limits and follow instructions from traffic controllers at all times. Alternative routes should be considered to avoid inconvenience.
