Flood update - 23 March 2017

  • Bellbrook, Toorooka, Temagog, Turners Flat and Sherwood Bridges are all open.
  • Dungay Creek Road is open
  • Gladstone Street, West Kempsey railway underpass is open
  • Old Aerodrome Road is open
  • Euroka Road is open but Theresa Street is closed
  • Saleyards Road is closed
  • Maria River Road is open but there may be water over the road and the surface is badly damaged

North Street, West Kempsey - proposed roadworks
13 March 2017

Roadwork in North Street, West Kempsey between River Street and Tozer Street is planned to commence on 20 March. The work involves excavation and replacement of failed sections of the road pavement, bitumen sealing and associated works. It will require the use of earthmoving plant and trucks and is expected to take four weeks. During the work access to properties may be restricted intermittently.

Traffic control will be in place as required and a temporary speed limit may be enforced. Residents are requested to obey the speed limit and follow instructions from traffic controllers at all times.

Short Street, West Kempsey - roadworks delayed
Update No. 2 - 13 March 2017

Completion of roadwork in Short Street, West Kempsey between Tozer Street and River Street has been delayed by recent inclement weather. While the removal and replacement of failed kerb and gutter and excavation and replacement of sections of the road pavement have been completed, preparation and bitumen sealing work is expected to take another two weeks.

Additional work between Tozer Street and Sea Street is also expected to commence this week and will be completed at the same time as the current work.

Traffic control will be in place as required and a temporary speed limit may be enforced. Residents are requested to obey the speed limit and follow instructions from traffic controllers at all times.

Macleay Valley Way (Macleay Street), Frederickton - roadworks recommenced
Update No. 6 - 13 March 2017

Work to upgrade Macleay Valley Way between North Street and the boat ramp access at Frederickton is progressing. Work between North and Chapman Streets is complete except for treeplanting. Work has recommenced on the section between Chapman Street and the boat ramp access (west side).

The work continues to require the use of earthmoving plant and trucks. Traffic control will be in place as required when the worksite is active and a temporary speed limit will be enforced. Every attempt will be made to provide for patrons accessing the shops but parking will necessarily be limited by the work site. Motorists are requested to follow instructions from traffic controllers at all times.

River Street, West Kempsey - proposed roadworks delayed
Update No. 1 - 20 February 2017

Commencement of roadworks in River Street, West Kempsey between Elbow Street and North Street has been delayed and is now expected to commence on 27 February. The work involves excavation and replacement of failed sections of the road pavement, stabilisation, bitumen sealing and associated works. It will require the use of earthmoving plant and trucks and is expected to take eight weeks. During the work access to properties may be restricted intermittently.

Traffic control will be in place as required and a temporary speed limit may be enforced. Residents are requested to obey the speed limit and follow instructions from traffic controllers at all times.

Macleay Valley Way (Smith Street), Kempsey - change to traffic conditions
Update No. 1 - 19 October 2016

Residents, business owners and motorists are advised that traffic conditions in Smith Street, Kempsey, north of Geoffrey Debenham Street to north of First Lane, have changed from today. Through traffic is now restricted to one lane in each direction with a shared median turning lane allowing safer right turns into businesses. Temporary median islands, linemarking and signage have been installed. Further works will follow on permanent median islands and tree planting.
