Changed traffic conditions - Smiths Creek Road intersection closure
2 May 2017

Roads & Maritime Services advise that the intersection of Smiths Creek Road and the Pacific Highway will permanently close from early May 2017, weather permitting.

The closure of the intersection at Smiths Creek Road and the highway will allow the northbound on-ramp of the Kundabung interchange and the new northbound carriageway to be completed.

Northbound access to the local roads will be via the Kundabung interchange off-ramp. The exit will be about one kilometre prior to the existing Smiths Creek Road intersection. Electronic message boards and additional signage will be provided to assist motorists. A map is attached showing the planned traffic changes.

Motorists wishing to travel north to Kempsey from this area will detour via Rodeo Drive and Ravenswood Road (old highway alignment) and travel about seven kilometres and re-join the highway.

Bus operations will continue to use the bus stop at the Kundabung Motel on Smiths Creek Road during this time.
