End of fire permit season 2018-19

Tuesday 30 April marks the end of the statutory bush fire danger period in the Lower North Coast Zone. From Wednesday, 1 May 2019 fire permits will no longer be required for residents of the Kempsey & Nambucca local government areas.

Residents must still notify their neighbours and the local fire authority 24 hours before burning. Despite milder conditions, there is always the potential for fires to threaten life, property and the environment, if not managed correctly. For further information contact the Lower North Coast Zone Fire Control Centre (02) 6563 7100

Prepare for the Bush Fire Danger Period

With the start of the Bush Fire Danger Period we are encouraging our residents to:

  • Clear around their home - mow the lawns, rake up leaves and clean out gutters
  • Create or review their Bush Fire Survival Plan
  • Know your Bush Fire Danger Rating every day
  • Know how you are going to get information before and during a bush fire emergency.
