Recovery assistance for primary producers ongoing

A preliminary damage report covering the effects of the recent floods on primary industries across the Mid North Coast including dairy, beef, oysters and horticulture has been prepared by the NSW Department of Primary Industries (NSW DPI). The report is based on information provided via the Damage Hotline as well as industry reports and assessments by NSW DPI.

The damage information is considered by the NSW and Australian governments in determining further assistance measures under the Natural Disaster Relief and Recovery Arrangements.

Primary producers who haven't yet reported flood or wind damage are encouraged to do so as soon as possible. Primary producers are encouraged to report damage to the DPI Damage Reporting Hotline on 1800 814 647 or alternatively can report online via the Report Flood and Wind Damage link at www.dpi.nsw.gov.au . Reports can also be faxed to 02 6628 1744.

Farmers needing assistance and advice on what measures are currently available should contact the NSW Rural Assistance Authority on 1800 678 593.

Any announcement regarding further assistance measures will be publicised through the local media and the Mid North Coast Flood Recovery Committee which has been established to coordinate and facilitate recovery across the Kempsey, Nambucca and Port Macquarie Hastings local government areas.

Local recovery enquires can also be directed to the Kempsey Council recovery contact centre on 6566 3200. The centre is helping put people in contact with services available.

The donated fodder scheme which is operated by the Livestock Health and Pest Authority (LHPA) remains open and persons wishing to donate fodder or request fodder can contact the Hotline on 1800 814 647.
