Economic Sustainability Unit

Kempsey Shire Council’s Economic Sustainability Unit has been established to enhance local business development and promote employment and investment opportunities. The Unit is particularly focused on building returns from the agribusiness sector, promoting post-bypass business growth and marketing the Macleay Valley Coast through the ‘Discover Something New’ destination marketing campaign.

The Macleay Valley Coast Destination Management Plan 2014-2016 provides the strategic direction for developing and growing the Macleay’s tourism sector.

Staff can assist business and industry in a range of ways, including:

  • Providing economic information and the latest data -
  • Offering businesses and investors a first point of contact regarding economic development activities
  • Linking business operators with other government agencies and regional organisations to assist with business development and funding opportunities
  • Assisting with any regulatory requirements
