About the Macleay Valley

Nestled in between the coastal towns of Port Macquarie and Coffs Harbour is the Macleay Valley.

With spacious sandy golden beaches, lush rainforests, miles of winding rivers and scenic hinterland the nature lover is spoilt for choice.

The Macleay Valley begins at Kundabung which is home of the popular Kundabung rodeo, and extends to the unspoilt pristine beaches of Grassy Head. The hinterland takes in the heritage river towns of Bellbrook and Willawarrin that provide scenic lookouts, country markets, canoeing and world class Bass fishing.

The coastal towns of Grassy Head, South West Rocks, Hat Head and Crescent Head provide some of the best uncrowded surfing beaches on the east coast of Australia. Crescent Head is home of the famous “Crescent Head Classic” with surfers coming from every part of Australia and overseas to compete in an annual competition that celebrates surfing’s history.

Kempsey has many shops and services including major supermarkets, speciality stores, fast food chains, restaurants and cafés, the growing local economy is based on tourism, farming and service industries.

The Macleay Valley is the perfect mix of coast and country to relax and enjoy.
