This document is Kempsey Shire Council’s Local Strategic Planning Statement (LSPS). It considers our community’s economic, social, cultural and environmental land use needs over the next 20 years and is the key document informing the strategic direction of land use planning at the local level.

Community Engagement Strategy 2019

The Community Engagement Strategy provides the guiding principles and approach for ensuring the community has an opportunity to have their say in a meaningful way. This document should be used in conjunction with the Community Engagement Toolkit to ensure a consistent approach to engagement across all Council projects.

Crescent Head Master Plan

The Crescent Head Master Plan has as its key objective to serve as a framework supporting the community in identifying and developing programs that invigorate the local economy; provide improved village public spaces; protect and conserve public lands for future generations; guard against inappropriate development practices, and safeguard the character and quality of life inherent in living in Crescent Head.

Kempsey Shire Bike Plan

This Bike Plan has been prepared for Kempsey Shire Council to provide a framework for existing cyclist needs, future management and to establish opportunities for future development of the cyclist network within the Kempsey Shire.

The 2017-2021 Kempsey Shire Council’s Disability Inclusion Action Plan aims to provide better access to Council information, services and facilities.

Macleay Valley Coast Destination Management Plan, 2019-2029

The Macleay Valley Coast Destination Management Plan, 2019-2029 has been prepared to complement Kempsey Shire Council’s economic development efforts as articulated in Horizon 2030.

Pedestrian Access and Mobility Plan

In 2015 grant funding was received under the Active Transport Program for the purpose of reviewing the existing Pedestrian Access and Mobility Plan. The purpose of the grant was “to review the current Kempsey and South West Rocks Pedestrian Access Mobility Plan (2003) as well as including other Shire villages and pedestrian links between villages”.

Plan of Management for Community Land

The Local Government Act 1993 requires Council to have a plan of management in place for all public land that is classified ‘community land’. This is to ensure that the operation and development of these community resources is guided by a framework that is considered by the community and formally adopted by the Council. All land included in this generic plan of management is community land.

Rudder Park Flying-fox Camp Management Plan

Kempsey Shire Council has endorsed a plan to manage flying-fox colonies at Rudder Park, East Kempsey in a bid to minimise the impacts of the species on nearby residents.
