A Plan for Kempsey
Breaking the Cycle Committee - April 2015
An intergovernmental group (Breaking the Cycle committee) has been working on a long term solution to address issues of crime and anti-social behaviour following a request from the former member for Oxley and then Deputy Premier, Andrew Stoner. After considerable research and collaboration the group decided to look at the broader issue of generational change to deliver a positive outcome for the community, including a reduction in crime and anti-social behaviour.
Stakeholders working collectively on sustainable solutions offers an opportunity for all tiers of government to benefit from community input and advice, allowing for issues to be addressed proactively rather than reactively.
Working together across the 'lifecycle' rather than seeking a short term fix the intent is to deliberately focus on establishing clear social values – Education (early years and ongoing), Health (including drugs and alcohol abuse) and Employment.
Enhance educational, health and employment outcomes for the Kempsey community through effective service coordination that results in positive generational change
