Have your say on the future of Kempsey Regional Saleyards

Council is inviting the community to comment on options for the future management and ownership of Kempsey Regional Saleyards.

At the June Council meeting Councillors considered a report outlining five strategic options for the facility and voted to place them on public exhibition until 23 August 2019.

The Kempsey Regional Saleyards Strategic Options Paper, now available for viewing and feedback on Your Say Macleay, outlines five scenarios including maintaining the status quo, upgrading, leasing or selling the saleyards, or building a new facility.

Weekly works schedule

Turner's Flat bridge works continue this week.

Part of Council’s 2017-2021 Delivery Program, the replacement of the Kempsey Shire’s largest timber bridge at Turners Flat is well underway with the forming and pouring of headstocks and columns on the north and south sides continuing this week.

Council received $1,995,615 in funding to replace the timber structure with a concrete bridge which is being widened to two traffic lanes and increased in height by 1.5 metres to make it less susceptible to flood events.
