Kempsey Airport community workshops

Kempsey Shire Council have been working with airport users and the community to ensure the viability of the airport and expand usage of the facility.

A series of community workshops on July 4th and 5th will offer residents the chance to share their views on proposed expansion of the Australian International Aviation College, raise questions and learn about the process for developing a Fly Neighbourly Agreement that will apply to all airport users.

All workshops will have the same format and participants only need to attend once.

Documents on public exhibition

At the June Council meeting it was resolved to place the following planning documents on public exhibition for a period of 28 days:

  • Developer Contributions Moratorium - Townships of Kempsey and Frederickton: This item relates to a 39 lot subdivision proposed by Voyee Pty Ltd on Lot 4 DP1124599, North Street, West Kempsey
  • Developer Contributions Moratorium - Townships of Kempsey and Frederickton: This item relates to a seniors housing development proposed by Thompson Health Care Pty Ltd on Lot 14 DP1069003, 80-114 Macleay Street Frederickton
  • Draft Procedure - Interim Arrangements, Kempsey Town Centre Public Domain Section 94 Developer Contributions Plan (2010)

Half-day events

Following the postponement of the Kempsey Show in April, the Kempsey Show Society has applied to Council for half-day local events (afternoon) for the 2017 Kempsey Show on Saturday 16 September and Sunday 17 September, 2017.

A declared local event day does not automatically mean employers are compelled to treat the day as a public holiday. Entitlements to staff will only arise where agreed to at the workplace level, usually as an enterprise agreement or contract. Submissions can be lodged in writing by close of business on Friday 30 June, 2017. The application and any submissions will be reported to the July 2017 Council meeting before being forwarded to NSW Industrial Relations for consideration by the Minister and gazettal.

Weekly works schedule

Due to impact of wet weather, previously advised works were delayed. This week our crews will be working on:

Kerb rehabilitation on Clarence Ryan Avenue, West Kempsey
  • Bridge construction/maintenance: Complete footpath backfilling and decommission South West Rocks Oil Terminal Footbridge worksite; construct sidetrack as part of Nagles Falls Road bridge replacement; commence site establishment of Whalens Bridge and begin removing existing bridge
  • Flood mitigation maintenance: Complete Cox. Coral weed spraying
  • Drainage/kerb/footpath maintenance: Seal road on Fernhill Crescent; repair pavement on Bestic Street and Collin Tait Avenue; backfill kerb on Clarence Ryan Avenue
  • Bitumen road resealing/maintenance: Pothole patching on Stuarts Point Road, Temagog Road, Armidale Road and in Stuarts Point area
  • Bitumen road construction/rehabilitation: Restore driveways and complete heavy patching between Short Street and Dangar Street as part of River Street, West Kempsey rehabilitation; install dish drain at Heyson Street as part of North Street, West Kempsey rehabilitation; modifiy centre island and kerb ramps on East Street, Crescent Head; excavate and replace pavement on Entrance Street, South West Rocks
  • Gravel road resheeting: Willi Willi Road (Temagog Road to Toorumbee Road)
  • Gravel road maintenance grading: Point Plomer Road
  • Roadside slashing: South West Rocks Road (Gladstone to Kempsey) and Plummers Lane
  • Other works: Drainage works from Chapman Street to shops as part of Frederickton streetscape; excavate culvert and install ballast base as part of Central Kempsey Sewage Treatment Plant access road and site earthworks; complete footpath at Frank Cooper and Simpson street intersections, and complete retaining wall excavation and footing at Gregory and Gordon Young streets as part of Gregory Street, South West Rocks PAMP works

Any person may make a written submission to the consent authority in relation to a development application during the exhibition period. If a submission is made by way of objection, the grounds of objection must be specified in the submission. Please note that any submission received by Council may be made publicly available.

A person who makes a written submission to a development application is required to disclose all reportable political donations and gifts (if any) made by the person making the submission or any associate of that person within the period commencing two years before the submission is made and ending when the application is determined.
