Stramit NSW Country Surf Life Saving Championships

Showcasing some of the state’s best surf sports athletes from clubs outside the Newcastle-to-Illawarra corridor, the 2017 Stramit NSW Country Surf Life Saving Championships will be hosted by Kempsey Shire Council and South West Rocks Surf Life Saving Club for the second consecutive year this weekend.

The Country Champs are one of the biggest events on the surf sports calendar and the only one to feature a full range of events and age groups within a two day event. A total of 4000 people are expected to attend between competitors, officials, volunteers, and spectators.

Draft Kempsey Contaminated Land Policy & Guidelines

The Draft Kempsey Contaminated Land Policy and Draft Kempsey Contaminated Land Policy Guidelines will be on public exhibition until Friday 24 February, 2017.

Submissions must be received by Council before 4:30pm, Friday 24 February, 2017.

Draft Kempsey CBD Flood Risk Management Study & Plan

The Draft Kempsey CBD Flood Risk Management Study and the Draft Kempsey CBD Flood Risk Management Plan will be on public exhibition until Friday 24 February,
2017.

Submissions must be received by Council before 4:30pm, Friday 24 February, 2017.

Information sessions on the documents will also be held at Council Chambers. Those interested in attending can register online or by calling Customer Service on 02 6566 3200

This week our crews will be working on:

Progress made on Middleton Street, South Kempsey
  • Bridge construction/maintenance:Minor deck repairs to Toorumbee Creek bridge on Willi Willi Road; install headwalls at Lukes Lane culvert
  • Drainage/kerb/footpath/drainage maintenance: All areas - maintenance response as required
  • Bitumen road resealing/maintenance: Pothole patching and edge restoration on Armidale Road and Collombatti Road
  • Bitumen road construction/rehabilitation: Bitumen sealing on Middleton Street, South Kempsey; pour concrete V-drain, place and compact basecourse at Gamacks Lane, West Kempsey; demolish failed kerb and gutter, excavate and replace pavement at Cochrane Street, West Kempsey
  • Gravel road maintenance grading: Toose Road, Pipers Creek Road, Rainbows End Road, Ballengarra Road and Bottle Tree Lane
  • Roadside slashing: Armidale Road, Macleay Valley Way (Kempsey to Frederickton), South West Rocks Road (Gladstone to Jerseyville), Left Bank Road and Right Bank Road (Kinchela)
  • Other works: Restore footpath and driveways on Macleay Valley Way (Creek Street to Chapman Street), Frederickton as part of Stage 2 streetscape upgrade; Excavate and pour path on Kemp Street, Kempsey as part of the Pedestrian Access and Mobility Project; install solar streetlight and build path to beach at Mattys Flat boat ramp, South West Rocks; Waste Management Centre excavation for new waste cell construction

If a submission is made by way of objection, the grounds of objection must be specified in the submission. Please note that any submission received by Council may be made publicly available.

A person who makes a written submission to a development application is required to disclose all reportable political donations and gifts (if any) made by the person making the submission or any associate of that person within the period commencing two years before the submission is made and ending when the application is determined.
